I am very familiar with Xboxes but have never owned one. I am thinking of getting my 15 years old son the best Xbox console with some of the funnest games to start off with but I am also considering Playstation 3. . What would you recommend?

I would recommend the 360. It has many fun games that are perfect for a 15 year old boy.
Look at the pros and cons young blood.
Xbox 360:
Pros:
Lots of fun games
More people have it than the PS3
Modern warfare 2 is a whole different story
Cons:
The life of the xbox is 3x as shorter than a PS3(RROD)(Dont mistreat it)
PS3:
Pros:Less people have it than the Xbox (con)
Modern Warfare 2 is much calmer on PS3 than Xbox
The life of the Ps3 is longer than the Xbox
Cons:
Not as many fun games (Halo 3 on xbox is legendary)

dude , it ur decision but i think ps3 is better cus most time xbox 360 get broken easily ps3 dont and xbox always get hacked , ps3 is more better graphics than xbox 360 but xbOX 360 is good but look ugly tbh i hate most about xbox is controlling look fat heavy ps3 dont light feel good with it

I would go with an xbox 360 due to the fact the I’m 15 and I enjoy my 360. Also, there are much more games on the console that are worth paying (exclusives to Xbox).
Such as: the halo 1,2,3,ODST,Reach—Crackdown 1 and 2—-Gears of Was 1 and 2—-Fables 1,2,and 3—Forza Motorsports 1,2,3
Plus, most of the games that are on the PlayStation 3 are also available on the Xbox 360.
In addition, xbox live ($40 for year subscription) is much more advance and has more players to play with online vs PlayStation network (which is free).
Also, I believe that majority of your sons friends probably own xbox 360s.
Lastly, xbox is much more reasonable than a PlayStation 3.(If you do buy an xbox 360 make sure to get the slim model which is the latest version)
DONT LISTEN TOO THEM!360 Sucks!Lol PS3 All The Way!360 seriously has problems…like when you turn it on it’s noisy!You have to pay for online gaming (which i’m sure you don’t wanna do!).Xbox only has Netflix.And PS3 has Netflix+Blu-ray=Awesomness!And when you buy the Xbox it comes we these headsets that break easily!Plus PS3 gaming has better games than the Xbox!So if your considering to buy a Gaming Console for a 15 year old i consider you too buy a PS3!(;
Xbox 360 has netfilxs, Lastfm(a radio staion on the Xbox 260 is what Lastfm is and lastfm is free), you can buy movies and music videos to if you don’t want to pay for netfilxs just buy a movie, you can make your own avater, if you get the silm Xbox 360 you have wifi, it does not play blu-ray, but it does paly dvds. Xbox live is $7.99 for 30 or 31 days. Netfilx is $8.99 for 30 or 31 days. $16.98 for 30 to 31 days to get him all stuff.
I am not so sure that PlayStation 3 is the best now with the Special Edition Xbox 360 250GB Console with Kinect. It is coming out tomorrow Nov 4 and has so many new features and enhancements like controlling your Xbox 360 with a single gesture or wave of the hand etc..
