The Witcher Review

The Witcher is one of the most popular fantasy games of recent years. The Witcher is developed by CD Projekt and distributed under the label of Atari all around the world. Its popularity and level of quality innovation can be estimated by the fact that after its launch in 2007, The Witcher has received over 90 awards for its excellence in providing an ultimate gaming experience. Although The Witcher was an excellent game, it still had some flaws.

It is good to know that all the success has not gone to the head of CD Projekt guys. New enhanced edition of The Witcher works on the parts on which it lacked a consistent feel. The general gameplay experience of The Witcher has been enhanced by the addition of character animations that are smoother and much faster then the previous version. 2 new quests were added to increase the game length. Upgrading of inventory and alchemical system is done to take care of all the faults in combat area.

The Witcher revolves around the story of ‘Geralt of Rivia’ (Main Character). The game opens with Geralt, being asked to cure the daughter of king foltest from being turned into a feral monster. This first stage of this game works as a tutorial and familiarizes the user with the principles of whicher-work. The story continues and Geralt finds himself in the witcher stronghold of Kaer Morhen. Here, he is told that he was found unconscious by the fellow witchers in a field. Strangely, Geralt is not able to remember anything before the accident. In the game, we as Geralt have to make decisions that unfold the past life of Geralt – The Witcher.

The Witcher is utmost known for its stunning graphic detail and life like character animations. CD Projekt guys, in the enhanced version, have reworked many character animations and graphics to make it better, faster and dazzling then the previous. The graphical experience that one gets by seeing moonlight shimmer on the water surface, or by a close up of fire reflected in the eyes of a character is simply amazing.

Game play of The Witcher is known for its realism. Characters react to actions, dialogues and environmental changes, which looks very real. It is common for people to take shelter and cry for help when it is raining or they are in problem. While in combat, an archer would stop firing bows and get ready for close combat if you rush towards him. The story in the game depends on the choices you make. This adds a whole new dimension to its realism.

The Witcher gives two modes of gameplay. One uses keyboard and mouse while other uses mouse to a larger extent and is usually suitable for casual players only. Although Geralt can use three different weapons, his sword is the most effective choice as it lets you use some exciting Witcher style moves.

Initially, Gerald is not capable of doing great things. The skill level or the talent of Geralt gets increased by killing monsters. Once a specific number of talents are collected, the player can choose from a wide range of abilities.

The Witcher is a path breaking game that has redefined fantasy genre. Its detailing in graphics, scenarios, gameplay and sounds is simply an exhilarating experience gamers would remember for life.
