The Sony brand name 8 MB memory card can save quite a bit of game data points.
While all games manipulate considerable data, when you buy Playstation 2 sports games you realize just how much data can be generated. Titles involving football, baseball, basketball and the like are the true storage hogs.
Hence an 8 megabyte card probably will not be big enough (storage-wise, that is; physically, the cards themselves are very small) if you think you may end up playing numerous sports games. You may need one or more 128-megabyte memory cards.
Add-ons
Besides cards and controllers, there are umpteen other things you can find. You can purchase hard drives, a steering wheel, even an adapter to let you play with gamers around the world.
The network adapter will amaze you when you buy Playstation 2 accessories. It plugs into the rear of the console and allows you to connect to the internet for live gameplay.
This internet play is a capability found chiefly with the more-recent titles. You truly do need to set aside a place in your budget to add this component to your play arsenal if you want to maximize gaming enjoyment.
Something that should be mentioned also is that the one Playstation variation that does not require this network adapter is the Slim Playstation2. It already has it inside.
There are numerous other items you'll want to consider as you buy Playstation 2 components. Many are also quite useful - though perhaps not as indispensable as the network adapter.
These include various games, controllers, memory cards and gadgets you will find useful as you enjoy your Playstation 2.
