Does the Xbox 360 wireless controller have to be branded for PC to connect?

Okay, I've been thinking of buying a wireless Xbox 360 controller to use on my PC with Windows 7.
Now doing some research, I've come across two types of controllers, one branded for PC and the other one without.
Are they both the same controller with a different name?
Would a 360 controller without the "FOR WINDOWS" branding still connect with the PC?

Please answer from experience, don't just guess.

Yes it would work, but you need to thing for the PC to connect the controller.

The 360 and Windows branded controllers are exactly the same. A “Windows” controller can be synced with a 360, and a “360″ controller can be synced with a Windows PC. If it’s a wireless controller, then you need the Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows to get it to link with a PC.
