yes, i know it can store more files game files and what not but if the original xbox comes with about 80 gb of space what would be the benefits of enlarging it?

Assuming you are talking about the original XBox, the primary reason for getting a larger hard drive would be if you were planning on turning your XBox into a media centre PC using one of the Linux projects.
Other than that, there is very little point.
