For a wireless controller, install the software drivers for the controller, which should be included on a CD that came with it. If you do not have the disc, drivers are available from the Microsoft website
The USB connector should look similar to this.

The USB connector should look similar to this.
Connect the receiver to a USB port on your computer (the receiver should also have come with the wireless controller at the time of purchase).
Turn on the wireless controller. If the controller does not turn on automatically, press the large button in the middle of the controller marked with a stylized “X.”
Press the small white button on the top of the receiver until the green light blinks.
Press the small white button on the edge of the controller between the shoulder buttons. Once the lights on the receiver and controller stop blinking, the controller should be ready to use.
Run the game you wish to use the Xbox controller with.
Enable the Xbox controller from the “Options” menu of the game. Each game is different, but most have an “Options” button somewhere on the main menu screen. If the option to use your Xbox controller is not shown at the first options menu, it should be shown in a sub-menu usually called “Controls” or “Input.”
