What is the difference between a Nintendo DSi XL, DSi and DS Lite?

I want a Ninetendo DSi for Christmas but I didn't know that there was a Nintendo DSi XL and DS Lite. So what are these two and what do they do? Which one of these three are better?

DS lite- only plays games, nothing extra
DSi- has a camera and memory storage
DSi XL- like DSi but has a larger screen

DSi is better than lite because it has internet privileges.DSi XL is better that DSi because the screen is bigger and has internet privileges. So yea DSi and XL are pretty much the same thing.

DS Lite can play Gameboy games. The others cannot.

Nintendo DSi has other features, such as not needing the game cartridge, being able to switch from game to game without having to shut off the device, and internet access within a wifi area, and a camera.

DSi XL is mostly identical to DSi, except with larger screens and bigger in size.

If you have many Gameboy Advance games, I’d spring for the Lite. If not, go for the XL.

DSi XL is the DSi with bigger screens.
The DSi is just the ds lite with a camera and the ability to connect to the internet
The ds lite is just standard game system.

Or you can wait for a little while longer to get the new 3ds, which i recomend. its going to have games in 3d and you don’t need glasses to play. And its supposed to be pretty impressive so far.

But if you just want to play games, get the lite. If you feel you need to go on the internet and take pictures with it too, the dsi. If you want larger screens with camera and internet, get the XL. But like i said, just wait. Or buy a cheap just DS, not even the lite, the very first one for like $30. start collecting games for that because you can play the same games on the 3ds. and have that hold you over until the 3ds

Well, to start off, the Nintendo DS Lite is able to play Game Boy Advance games on it. It is useful if you like games like Pokemon which utilize this feature. The Nintendo DS Lite is unable to connect to Wi-Fi modems which use WPA2 Encryption.

The Nintendo DSi does not have the Game Boy Advance function. It can use WPA2 encryption on Wi-Fi. It has two cameras to take pictures, lets you gain access to the Nintendo Store, using the internet to download software. The photos can even be uploaded to Facebook. You can give audio files and pictures effects. For example you can dress a person in a Mario hat in a photo, while in the audio files, you can add a variety of Nintendo Sound effects. When on the Main Menu, you do not have to turn the DSi off to switch game cards. It can also store memory on SD cards.

The DSi XL is essentially, exactly what it states. It is just an extra large version of the DSi. It does have longer battery life than the DSi.

If you have the patience, hold out a little longer for the 3DS, which is a new version not yet released. This model features 3D effects, without the need for 3D glasses. They have also announced that it will be able to play 3D movies. The screen size is bigger than the DSi’s but not the DSi XL’s

The nintendo DS lite was the first one to come out of the three. It was able to play Gameboy games and DS games. Priced at $99.99

The Nintendo DSi on the otherhand, was far more avanced than the previous creation. With a Camera, Voice Recorder, Game store, and even a free cartoon animator. But losing the ability to play gameboy games. $149.99

And the Nintendo DSi XL is pretty much the exact same as the DSi itself, only with just a little more definition, a bigger screen, and costs around 20$ more than the DSi. $169.99

ohh mann…. so many ppl ask this question lol. i think u should get a dsixl. its a dsi, only BIGGER lol. (easier to find if lost haha) also it comes in cool bronze color. anyway ds lites r old and break easily, the only advantage lite has over dsi is that it plays gba games, but if u dont play em then dont worry. but u should also think about the 3DS. it comes out sometime next year and is gonna be insanely awesome lol. but idk. just get the dsiXL XD

If you just want to play ds games, and possibly gba games, get a DS lite. I have one and I love it. The Dsi and the xl are wastes of money to me. Most people don’t really need the built in camera or internet.

DS lite plays nintendo DS games plus older Game Boy Advance games (in case you like a series and want to try the games before it)

DSi plays nintendo DS games but NOT GBA. It has a camera and SD card slot so you can play around with pics. Also you can buy mini-games using nintendo Wi-FI connection. And there’s music record and playback

DSi XL is basically DSi but has 73 or 93% (i forget which) larger screen

Or you could ask for money because the nintendo 3DS comes out in March. It plays 3D games (which you don’t need glasses to see the 3D) and nintendo DS games. I’m pretty sure it has all the applications of the DSi and more.

Hope I helped a bit :)
