The DSi XL has an SD card port which is how the Wii is hacked, cant the same be done for the XL as for the Wii?

No, you can’t hack the DSi with a SD card.
Instead, you can buy the AceKard2i to view pictures, play DS games for free (ROM’s), music, videos and HomeBrew apps in one single MicroSD card without hacking your DSi.
NOTE: If you update your DSi, the AceKard2i will not work. So DON’T update your DSi.
