an HDMI cable and you need to have wireless internet as well
A couple extra controllers and a charging station are all great accessories. Get an HDMI cable if you have an HDTV- otherwise it doesn’t really matter. You don’t need Wifi, but I recommend it. Also, get your son a couple of $20 PSN gift cards so he can download games or new content for his games.
If you have a HD TV, get the HDMI cable.
You might want to get another Dual Shock 3 if you want to play or have his friend come over to play with him. The PS3 can support up to 7 players.
Maybe a Bluetooth headset so he can chat with other players online.
alot of people overlook the fact that it and other systems only come with 1 controller. buy him a second one. If you have a wireless internet router then he can hook it up wirelessly otherwise you will need a wireless router or a cable that can run from your current router to the playstation. that is for playing games over the internet.
An Xbox 360 so he can have something to play with his friends.
What you will need is a couple of controllers so he can play with other people, the charges that go along with it. Just ask anyone that works at the store, and they will be glad to assist you. You might want to get a head set so he can talk to people online, but it is not needed to play online just to talk. And thats about it.
Well you really don’t need anything the PS3 comes with the network. The first online I.D is free but if you make a new user for the Ps3 and try to make another I.D it will cost money. but once you make the I.D it is pretty simple.

depending with your tv, you may want to buy a hdmi cable off ebay, usually about 5$, and since the playstation has free internet and online gameplay a mic would be the next best thing. then a keypad for typing.
also, if you dont already have one, i would suggest a long network cable , one long enough to go from your pc to ps3, that way you can transfer all your movies, songs and pictures to it fast and easy so you always have them readily available if you and friends want to watch a movie, or if you want to show someone a pic or if you want to listen to music out of your home sound system…
