Cool video about xbox console - have a look:

The original Xbox gaming console did many things right, and a few things poorly. I look back at this classic retro console to give my opinion on just how well Microsoft did with their first console release!

Great video! Have to say that the xbox is one of my favorite consoles of all time, especially because of the analog triggers

ADa89mixus August 30, 2011 at 8:19 pm

@DavisGuy64 – If you like arcade racing games, then do not miss Burnout 3 or Revenge! Ninja Gaiden Black is excellent on the Xbox, as well as Soul Calibur 2 and Psychonauts

Are there any Xbox games you recommend that’s not a First-person shooter, a RPG, or a sports simulator? Like a 3D platformer, a racing game, or an action game. By the way I liked your video.

Fun Fact- The Xbox was actually named after its graphics technology, directX. So, the name of the prototype-a rebuilt dell-was the directXbox.

bluedeathva August 30, 2011 at 10:03 pm

great vid but it needed more JSRF and Panzer Dragoon

bluedeathva August 30, 2011 at 10:30 pm

@bluedeathva it was the MSX you can see it on wiki it was made by Microsoft Japan VP.

bluedeathva August 30, 2011 at 10:40 pm

microsoft actually had a system in the 80′s and was the consule Metal Gear and castlevania started on and ironically sold very well in japan to the point that it beat out the famicom but was never sold internationally. It had a keyboard controller I can’t remember the name of it I just saw it in a show about Hideo Kojima on G4 he said back then he didn’t want to develope for any other consule, again this is very ironic.

lol u kinda look like kyle gass great review by the way

chinitosoccer1 August 30, 2011 at 11:44 pm

The Xbox didn’t beat the Gamecube in Japan, it was PS2 > Gamecube > and the Xbox came last for far, it was a total failure there.

EtremeHorror666 August 31, 2011 at 12:11 am

Nice video and I see a mod-chip in side the xbox pics you posted ;)

I wouldn’t consider the xbox a classic retro console, but cool video nonetheless.

kaiserwilhelm August 31, 2011 at 1:16 am

@GAMERSHARK100 It was probably for both reasons

kingstonlj August 31, 2011 at 1:19 am

The Xbox destroyed the PS2 – and most of its games still look good today. A console that has many fans, but it also tends to get a hard time from a lot of people. I like big consoles.

GAMERSHARK100 August 31, 2011 at 1:51 am

LOL microsoft named xbox xbox becuse it runs on directX and its a box, not becuse “x” is cool.

axxowii August 31, 2011 at 2:48 am

great vid as always MJ

zebure August 31, 2011 at 2:51 am

:) good old xbox, bought my xbox during games big xbox sellout, 5bucks :D best part it was an chiped version.

Anyway xbox did have some extrem good dreamcast games.

TheGebs24 August 31, 2011 at 3:31 am

Very nice overview indeed :)

scythe8216 August 31, 2011 at 4:08 am

Regarding the “X” in Japan: Afaik when you get back test results and stuff like that in school or at university: “X” marks “wrong”, “O” (circle) means “right” and “triangle” is “partially correct”. Sometimes “square” is used, too … which, too, is somewhere between circle and X, but to sum it up:

Japanese students most likely learned: X means failure

EpicGameGuy August 31, 2011 at 4:22 am

@GaaraAkatsuki94 Nintendo kills both ^^

critter505 August 31, 2011 at 5:22 am

I loved some of the games for the original xbox, but there were so many more even better games for the PS2 that there was no way it could compete.

bandbmodz August 31, 2011 at 5:32 am

hahahaha the thing about the breack away controller cord and grabbing another beer made me laugh so hard lol nice one
lmao subbed

GaaraAkatsuki94 August 31, 2011 at 6:06 am

the xbox sucks, the Playstation is the best! XD

Snestastic August 31, 2011 at 6:54 am

Great video dude, im glad you mentioned why the system bombed in japan as i wasn’t aware that the letter x had that meaning to the japanese. That explains why my japanese playstation 3 uses o to access everything and x to go backwards, brilliant vid :)
