i have the new 80gb ps3, as in the new one that doesn't play ps2 games. i just want to know if the playstation 2 controller coonverter that plugs into the ps3, does it work for the new one?

Yes it would work.
But to play PS2 games on a PS2, you need backwards. You can also just play with the PS3 controller. No need for a convertor.
