flashxp is garbage and the tutorials you’re using are from at least 5 years ago. Every tutorial that tells you to use it only increased it’s popularity and now they want you to buy it after a few days. Just use your windows file explorer or a open folder and type in the address bar.
Here’s some easy steps.
Figure out your xbox’s ip address, you want your xbox and your computer connected to the router. Make sure dhcp is enabled on the xbox.
Here’s a screenshot of the settings menu for evo x, you’ll want to remember/write down the ip address.

Then on your computer go to the start menu and select “run”
Here is the proper syntax you need to use. Ftp://user:pass@ip
For example my xbox’s ip is setup as 192.168.0.105 and the default user name and pass is both xbox. So i would type ftp://xbox:xbox@192.168.0.105
Here’s an example picture

Now it’s as simple as dragging and dropping files and folders in their correct location.
Emulators should go in E:/emulators, if the directory doesn’t exist then make a folder named emulators in your E:.
The default rom directory is within the emulators folder specific to the emulator type. So if it was snes it would be E:/emulators/snes/roms.
I explained this in yahoo answers late last year but i lost my motivation to search though my old answers. If you have any questions let me know i and i can help you directly.
