E3 2009 Announcements Left People Asking How Much Will The Nintendo Wii Cost

"How much will the Nintendo Wii cost?"

The question sounds weird in this day and age, almost 3 years since the release of the said console, and almost just as much time the product has dominated the sales charts. Surely, most people know how much the system costs these days, right?

If someone's living in a cave somewhere and doesn't know the answer to the question "how much will the Nintendo Wii cost," then I'll provide the answer right now: $249.99 SRP.

The reason why a lot of people are asking "how much will the Nintendo Wii cost" is because of recent announcements during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2009 about the console's future. With a spate of blockbusters coming its way, many people are actually afraid that the console will increase its price to capitalize on the surge in demand that is sure to come in the next few months.

As if there's no longer a Nintendo Wii shortage these days.

So, what are these E3 2009 announcements that have turned the video gaming world on its head and have made even the most avid Nintendo fans worried about how much will the Nintendo Wii cost? There are many announcements, but here are the top 3.

Just a reminder before proceeding to the list: fasten your seatbelt please.

1. Super Mario Bros. 4D. The true sequel to the NES originals. Super Mario Bros. 4D is coming to the Wii. This time, however, the game play will require a 4-player cooperative mechanic. It's still the same Super Mario Bros. we have always loved, however, which is enough reason to get excited about this game.

2. Super Mario Galaxy 2. Never in the history of video games has a single console seen two 3D Mario games. That's about to change with the pending release of Super Mario Galaxy 2, the sequel to the title that, many believe, brought back people's faith on Mario games.

3. Project M. Many industry experts have long known about Project M, the codename for the title that is being developed by Team Ninja. Team Ninja, of course, is headed by Tomonobu Itagaki. They are known for creating and developing the games under the Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden franchises. Guess what? Project M is not a new intellectual property for Nintendo.

The "M" in Project M stands for - you guessed - METROID! As of E3 2009, Project M is no more. It has assumed a formal title, Metroid: Other M and is poised to tell the story of a younger Samus in either a prequel to the games we know or an alternate reality to the universe we have become accustomed to. This title alone would be enough to force anyone to ask "how much will the Nintendo Wii cost, especially after the announcement of a new Metroid game?"
