Druids – WoW’s Famous Hybrid Class

The most popular hybrid class in the World of Warcraft definitely is the Druid class. A lot of players find this class to be a lot of fun to level up and play. If you choose to play a Druid on the Alliance side your choice of races will be limited on Night Elves while on the Horde side you can only choose the Tauren race.

With so many different abilities Druids are mostly famous for their shape-shifting. They have many forms they can turn themselves into and the basic ones are Cat, Bear, Travel and Sea Lion form. With the Burning Crusade expansion flying skill was introduced to all the WoW players. Other classes also got the ability to use a flying mount but on the level 70 while for Druids this was available at the level 68. A fun thing when it comes to this ability was that a Druid flight form is an instant cast same as any other form they had which made them even more movable.

Druid can be a really good dps as a caster, healer, tank or a melee dps and therefore his talent tree is divided into three branches – Balance, Feral Combat and Restoration. With the Balance talent build, a Druid will be able to shapeshift into another very fun form – the Moonkin which will allow him to become a typical caster damage dealer.

Druid’s moonkin form will afflict the whole raid and all other players will have an amazing benefit with +5% on critical strike rating. Moonkins are often called “Boomkins” for fun and are typical mana consumers.

To get the best damage output they will rotate their spells and plus use two DoTs – Moonfire and Insect Swarm. He also has a few AoE spells – Starfall, Typhoon and Hurricane. His gear needs to have a lot of spell power, crit, hit and haste rating and with his dps, a Moonkin can parry any other caster dps in raid. With Feral Combat a druid can choose to become either a tank or melee dps.

When he shapeshifts into the bear form, a Druid will have a lot of stamina and armor and can tank as good as any other tanking class, and if he wants to dps in melee he can always shapeshift into the cat form. With his talent points in the Restoration tree, a druid will get another special form – the tree form. When shapeshifted into a tree a Druid will grant 6% extra healing done to all the targets in his group/raid and his spells will consume less mana. Healing Druids are famous for their HoTs - Healing over Time spells and are favored in raids. A druid healer is the ultimate Healing over Time (HoT) healer and therefore he is very much appreciated in raids. Their healing abilities are dependent on their gear which needs to have a lot of spell power and spirit and it is said that Resto Druids are able to regenerate mana much faster than any other healing class.

When it comes to armor a Druid can wear both cloth and leather. Wearing cloth is not advisable since leather armors have better stats. Cloth can be of use to healing druids and Moonkins since they usually don’t take any close damage unlike Druid tanks and melee. Tanking Druid needs to equip the best leather armor he can get since he needs a lot of hp and armor to be able to tank proper.

Playing a druid is really fun both in PvE and PvP and basically you can’t get bored since you can change your build and game play anytime you please. Leveling a druid also goes quite easy and is advisable to start with the Feral Combat build. With a Druid you will be able to shape shift, run faster, swim faster, dive without the need to have an underwater breathing potion, etc. and all this is done instantly!.
