I really felt the need to do a review on this item simply because IT WORKS!!!Since the description in the AD are a little vague I’ll hopefully be able to help you with more information concerning this product. The CodeBreaker for PS2(PL-650) is actually the newest edition it is listed as the Version 9.2!! Which is great because it has almost every cheat code available for PS2 on both ALL old games as well as NEW ones even as recent as early 2005!!If you should purchase a newer game or even a title not already programmed onto the disc you can add new cheats easily onto the disc for that title by simply logging onto: Codebreaker.com and look the title up, print the cheats off for the game and enter them manually (using Your PS2 console and Controller!!) The codes are a simple series of numbers that are entered, the disc will then ask you to save the information onto your PS2 memory card. Now when you want to use the cheats simply put the Codebreaker disc into Your game console, pick the game title and individual cheats, pick the “Play Game” button at which time the console will automatically eject the disc and you will then place in the game disc and hit the “X” button to play the game. When the game starts you will automatically have the entered cheats!!!Infinate Ammo,Infinate Lives!,Big Guns and Swords,Extra characters, and New costumes!! and MANY MORE!!!It’s REALLY THAT EASY!!The cheat codes can also be automatically be downloaded from the Codebreaker.com site too (Right onto the disc itself!!). I think the Absolute best part aside from the Thousands (If not more!) codes you get is that this disc ACTUALLY WORKS!! I really enjoyed my Gameshark when I had one for the original Playstation, but when the PS2 was released I purchased one for it and unfortunately IT ABSOLUTELY HATED PLAYING THAT DISC!! The PS2 made horrible noises and would once in a great while play the disc only after opening and shuting the frontloading disc tray between 30-50 times (no lie this is a common problem check out Gameshark.com’s site under:”Frequently Asked Questions”section. For some reason the PS2 does not seem to read discs with the “BLUE” readable surface very well.It seems to have the same problem with certain Blue surfaced games too.The Gameshark as you can imagine had this colored underside and the Game console HATED IT!! “DISC ERROR” was a very common occurance.Even after using the self diagnotic program on the PS2 it still would only play this cheat device once in a while …Leading to unbelievable frustration!! This IS NOT the case with the CodeBreaker!! It has a normal silver readable surface and fires right up!!Plus for every 10 cheats on OTHER cheat devices this product had those plus close to 50 (if not more!)I can’t recomend this product enough!!5 Stars are simply NOT enough for this product!! I hope this review was helpful to you and If you should purchase this product I truely feel you WILL NOT be dissapointed!!CODEBREAKER RULES!!AAAAAA+++++!!!!!

the best part of codebreaker is the number of codes available. some games have literally hundreds of codes, it’s crazy! this thing earns its name by having codes that bend almost every rule in a game. you also have ability to add new codes by using your controller, a usb keyboard or the internet. i have dsl and the first day i downloaded new codes and gamesaves easily. i didn’t have to change any settings or anything. another feature is that it remembers the last codes you put in, so if you’re just focusing on one game you don’t have go through and select the same codes again. it’s loads pretty fast and is simple enough to use, especially if you already have experience using cheat disks. it’s well worth the price.

Codebreaker worked first thing…my Gameshark has yet to work. Codebreaker also cost me less money, and was more user friendly. I’m not one to tell you how to spend your money, but I think the clear winner is Codebreaker.

In retrospect, I just took the time to review a computer game cheating device. Man, I’m a dork.

Codebreaker comes loaded with lots of codes and game saves out of the box, and more available for download through your ps2 internet connection. Another useful feature is the Day 1 codes available on their website. You can download them to a USB pen drive and load them into your ps2 provided you aren’t using a PS2 with the model# 75001 or higher(the newest slim model). Those PS2s don’t recognize the pen drive so you’ll be entering all the codes by hand, which can make for a long afternoon.

From codebreaker’s site:

“If you have the latest PS2 Slim Model (SCPH-75001 or higher): Sony has made some key modifications to this revision of the PS2. It seems that the changes they have made to the USB hardware have rendered the CodeBreaker’s USB drivers inoperable. This is likely due to use of a newer and probably cheaper chipset. The change does not seem to effect software that uses Sony’s USB drivers, but Pelican’s home-brew drivers do not operate (Pelican cannot use Sony’s drivers for legal reasons). A future version of the CodeBreaker will likely fix this problem. For now, there is no fix for this on your unit.”

I am not a serious gamer, I barely bought a PS2 6 months ago so I could play Kingdom Hearts I & II. Anyway, there is this Final Fantasy Character in these games named Sephiroth, that is near to impossible to beat. I found out there were codes and about this product in my frustration of wanting to defeat this guy, so I bought it. I had to manually enter the codes for KHII, but it was easy to use. It worked, most importantly!!! and if you have a flash USB drive you can download codes from their website for any PS2 Game. My version is 9.X something, it’s hard to tell that, but I really am grateful to this product and highly recommend it to anyone. Trust me, if you’re in a tough spot sometimes cheating isn’t so bad! :-)
