If you officially run Linux on the PS3, like Yellow Dog, the PS3 has a controlled environment that it will run Linux in, it does not allow access to the Nvidia GPU / RSX. Yes you can install virtual machine software on linux to run Windows, but it will be emulating basic PC hardware. Remember for ever line of emulated code, you need multiple lines of supportive code to simulate (x86) hardware that is not there. Thats why you need a 4ghz core 2 duo to run 300Mhz PS2 games on PC. pcsx2
@alterbr33d and it runs off windows xp. Before the removal of the “Other OS” feature, you could install Linux on your ps3, then install windows onto linux and then install a 360 emulator onto your emulated windows and wammy 360 on ps3
@alterbr33d Im going to have to say with a few things your correct. I was referencing every halo game looking the same playing the same. The PS3 has HLR or its HDLR which can craft Dx11 lightening effects. If you at all think the 360′s hardware is superior to Ps3 is a sad mistake. No system can touch the Playstation 3′s powerhouse Gow3 was only using 55% of the Systems power, if you read up on it. Programmers are just better at programing for the 360 due to it was out 2years ahead and it runs

they both support the same long list of graphical effects, except the 360 supports a few more, you can see a list, they are both identical, except the 360′s keeps going past the PS3′s. The PS3′s pixel pipelines are just like the Xbox 1′s, it just has more of them.
@thafix88 Also, you mentioned two games that are not even on the PS3, thats not a good way to make a comparison. Also You said every halo game, there are only two, both use the same engine.
Both GOW 1/2 use the Uengine3, so of course the graphics are not going to change much. The PS3′s GPU does not have a unified shader architecture (would be for DX9) with 20 pixel pipelines. the 360′s VPU has 52 stream processors in a unified shader architecture (DX10+)

The Cell processor has 8 cores, one is disabled for redundancy.
The 360 has 3 cores. The Cell is around 320m transistors. The 360′s is 300m. The Cell has one core that takes up a large percentage of the transistors, the remaining 6 cores are much smaller, and are hard to use since they have a proprietary architecture. The 360s cores are all equal size, and use a common architecture. The cell is like a 320cu/in V8 with one big cylinder and a bunch of little ones that use a rare fuel.

@132music ps3 has almost unlimited potential. NASA uses unlocked ps3′s as super computers. read up on that. dbzkid
@132music the cell processor is 4 cores every game thats been released has only used ONE core(uncharted2 and such) I think god of war uses 2 cell cores. But really the 360 is MAX graphic wise thats why EVERY HALO GAME looks the EXACT same and both gears of war games look the EXACT same they just upped the brightness in gears2 to make people think it looks better 360is dated hardware like the DS its old and MAXED out its garbage
@5dbzking WOW!!! Dude I am an xbox 360 fanboy. Go look at all my posts if you do not believe me. I usually defend the 360. In the case of graphics however PS3 HAS FAR MORE POTENTIAL. Most video game developers just make games that do not use the full potential of the ps3. I have both systems and if you have games like uncharted 2 that actually use the ps3 to its potential you will see how amazing the ps3 can be graphically. The reason I like my xbox a bit more is because of xboxlive.

So the only time the PS3 has superior graphics is when an exclusive game is made for it. A different development kit is used to make games for both 360, PC and ps3. It makes more sense and is more cost effective just to make it with the 360 development kit then port it over.
Blu-ray drives don’t transfer lots of high end graphics fast enough. This is why more and more ps3 games have you install part or all of the game on the hard drive. The Drive just can’t transfer the data it needs
Actually the graphics card in the 360 is a better card then the ps3. It runs faster and smoother, with a sharper image and displays blacks better. This is because of the better utilization of RAM.
Exclusives for the ps3 will bring out it’s graphics potential though. Cross console game will favor the 360 in graphics though.
Both consoles have awesome consoles and unless your looking for it, it is very difficult to see a notable difference.

What does COD have to do with the 360? It’s not an exclusive for that console. Gran Turismo is exclusive. And you are wrong about CODMW2 selling that many copys this year. In January MW2 had only sold 8,718,191 on the 360. So how do you think 8.7 million copies is greater than 50+ million copies? You need to go back to school and take some Math and English classes.

No exclusive ps3 game is going to 360. The data in the discs isnt there. They’d require to much compression. Look at square-enix they regret making FF13 for 360 aswell they had to compress and cut out ALOT of stuff on that version like the Language normalizations(you get them on ps3 and not 360(english only on 360)) Bluray trumps DVD9′s in every aspect. Thinking 360 is the superior console is foolish.
